IT Jungle: Secrets of the IBM i IPL Parameters

All IBM i operating systems have a set of IPL parameters that determine the following things during and after an IPL.

  • What happens during the IPL
  • Whether the system startup program should be started after an IPL or whether the system should start in restriced state
  • What other system functions should be started during an IPL
  • Whether the operating system should perform any cleanup functions

IT Jungle just posted my new article on how to understand and set your system’s IPL parameters. So click over to this article if you’re interested in how to manipulate these parameters from the green screen.
