IBM i Support Projected Past 2020

This came up in a Twitter feed the other day so I’d thought I’d reiterate it here.

At the iBelieve event, IBM has been quoted as saying that it is projecting support for IBM i past the year 2020. Support past 2020 for iNext (the operating system past i 7.1) also showed up on IBM slides during the IBM i Today, Tomorrow, and Beyond session at COMMON. That slide also showed i 6.1 support into 2015 and i 7.1 support into 2017.

Obviously, these dates may be subject to change. But right now, it looks like IBM is planning on supporting the IBM i operating system for at least the next eight years.
