IBM’s Damaged Object Detection (DOD) Tool for i 6.1 & 7.1

damaged goodsIBM is delivering a Damaged Object Detection (DOD) tool via PTF for IBM i 6.1 and 7.1.

If you’ve ever had a backup stop dead in its tracks because of a damaged object, you’ll be interested in this puppy.

The PTF letters and pre-reqs for getting the DOD tool are:

iProDeveloper has a nice write-up on automated damaged object detection in IBM i 7.1 only, if you want to read more on how to apply and download. I don’t currently have a good link to instructions for running the tool in IBM i 6.1. If anyone has instructions for running in IBM i 6.1, please forward to me or notate your ideas in the comments section of this article.

    Hi Joe,

    How does one go about using this tool on a V6.1 machine?, the command string provided in the article on iprodevleoper – which only mentions 7.1:

    /QIBM/ProdData/OS/OSGi/templates/bin/areVerify.sh -storage diskUnits=*ALL

    …. returns:

    Unrecognized option: -storage

    Any suggestions?.
