IT Jungle: Preparing for Your Next IBM i Upgrade a Year in Advance, Parts 1 & 2

I’m starting to evaluate my next set of IBM i hardware upgrades.

Two years ago, I wrote an article on how to start thinking about a hardware upgrade a year in advance. There are a lot of things you can do to make you upgrade path easier if you start early, including business partner evaluation, budgeting, third-party software maintenance planning, and planning for extended maintenance.

I wrote this series as two articles two years apart because every time I go through an upgrade cycle, I learn something more.

The follow-up article that I wrote this week adds to that list, including possible operating system upgrades, hard dates to watch out for, and upgrade options. To read my follow-up article, click here.
