IT Jungle: Restoring IBM i Passwords & Private Authorities When Using RSTUSRPRF

0-IT Jungle LogoIT Jungle just posted my latest article on restoring IBM i passwords & private authorities when using the IBM i Restore User Profile command (RSTUSRPRF).

This tip was spurred by IT Jungle reader Avraham, who was using my earlier article to copy user profiles between systems. He noticed that the RSTUSRPRF command didn’t restore the password or group linkages for the profile. Instead the system coughed up the following system message:

CPC3713 – &2 &1 restored without password or group linkage

Avraham figured out how to get around this issue and passed that information on to me. I researched some more and documented two ways that IBM allows you to restore user passwords and private authorities when moving objects between systems.
