IBM Power i Machine Upgrades: One Year Out

We’re hitting the end of our IBM i lease in a little over a year. And I’m starting the process for a possible upgrade to some of IBM i machines. While I can’t say that I can make all the arrangements to buy, upgrade, or stay put on my machines today, there are number of things to attend to right now in order to make the proper choices for my organization.

My thinking on this has evolved in the last few years, but here’s what I was thinking about the last time I went through an IBM i upgrade cycle in 2010. I’ll be upgrading this list in an upcoming article.

The more I think about it, the more I realize that one year isn’t too soon to start thinking about an IBM i upgrade. And there are a number of critical advantages to doing so.
