IT Jungle: Four Ways to Move an IBM i Partition, Part 1

itj-logoIT Jungle just posted my latest article on the four different ways to move an IBM i partition from one machine to another.

The four ways are:

  1. Restore in place or to a new location with same system name
  2. Restore to a new location with a new system name
  3. Replicate to a different location using high availability (HA) software
  4. Using flash copy or another SAN technology to move a machine between connected networks

I cover techniques 1 and 2 in today’s article. IT Jungle will put out part 2 covering techniques 3 and 4 next month.
