Automatically converting spooled files into Excel spreadsheets is helpful in a number of situations, where you need to deliver reported results to inside or outside users.
I documented this technique in response to a recent audit where the auditors wanted us to run specific reports detailing user profile activity.
The advantage to putting spooled file results into Excel spreadsheets rather than printing them to PDF files is that the recipient can then sort the data in whatever format they need.
