One more thing to add to a machine move checklist. If backing up to media, contact your media management provider and change pickup arrangements to reflect your new machine locations.

For the two machines we’re flip-flopping this week to different locations, each machine is serviced by a different media service provider. As part of the process, we had to adjust our media handling procedures and media inventory so that the right tapes are delivered to the right locations, starting the day of the move.

Luckily, we planned for this and changes will be in effect the day of the move. If you’re planning on moving any machines with media management from an outside company, be sure to add this to your list.
